Jean-François Even is a filmmaker, producer, and screenwriter with a lifelong passion for Asia and cinema.
He holds a Master’s degree in Screenwriting earned in China (with courses taught in Chinese), where he worked as a documentary producer and assistant director, while also directing several short fiction films. Back in France, he joined the animation and VFX studio Knightworks as an executive producer, overseeing co-productions with Japan (Tohei Animation) and China. He also supervised 2D/3D animated commercials and led the development of feature films and series.
He later moved into feature documentary directing with Harada, Sculpting for Peace, about Japanese sculptor Tetsuo Harada, and Stray Dogs, a poetic journey through China, Korea, and Japan.
Driven by his constant desire to explore new forms of visual storytelling, whether animated or live-action, Jean-François is now co-creator of Nicéphore, pushing the boundaries of what is creatively possible.
